Ms. C’s leadership class got to hear from their first “Leader Live” speaker of the year. Big thanks to Cora Cross for inviting Mrs. Hannah Cress, top 1% leader in network marketing, former head softball coach and D2 college athlete. She shared so much valuable information and is truly an inspiration for these future leaders!

Ms. Fuller's Marketing and Co-op students have been learning about the power of marketing. The students chose a company and focused on its products and/or services offered. They created a shoebox window display that showcased some of the company's merchandise offered. The shoebox displays ranged from a Harley Davidson showroom to a local florist.

This is just a reminder that schools will be closed on Monday in honor of Labor Day.

Mark your calendars. This is a free event for the community. Come on out and show your support.

On behalf of High Point Elementary School I would like to thank the Washington County Sheriff's Office and the Virginia State Police for their assistance with the situation that led to High Point going on a soft lockdown for most of the school day today. They provided guidance and extra personnel to ensure our students and staff were safe. We greatly appreciate their expertise, professionalism, and collaboration.
I would also like to thank the Administration at High Point Elementary for making decisions that erred on the side of student/staff safety and for communicating the status of the situation multiple times throughout the day to our parents. We will brief the situation with administration and law enforcement tomorrow to ensure that we continue best practices and improve in the areas that need adjustments.
One of the early take aways is that we can communicate more efficiently by encouraging parents and stakeholders sign up for the Washington County App. Please visit this site (https://www.wcs.k12.va.us/article/1203297) for more information about this app and a link to download it.
Again, thanks to everyone who helped keep our kids and staff safe, nothing we do is more important. If you have suggestions on how we can make our schools safer, please don't hesitate to share your ideas with us.
