Medication Reminder for Parents & Guardians
To keep students safe, Washington County Public Schools (WCPS) follows strict medication guidelines.
Prescription Medications
Must have written orders from a physician, PA, or NP
Written parent/guardian permission required
Parents are responsible for monitoring supply and resupplying when notified
Over-the-Counter Medications
Require written parent/guardian permission
Must be provided by the parent
School clinics do not keep stock medications
ONLY FDA-approved medications are allowed
Essential Oils
Not permitted at school
Not FDA-approved
May not be brought to school or administered
Per WCPS policy
Aspirin
Not administered
Due to the risk of Reye’s syndrome
Medication Requirements
Medications must be in their original container
Items sent in bags or other containers will not be accepted
Antibiotics should be given at home, unless ordered for 4x daily dosing
